Don’t call me a porn star: Vidya Balan

Vidya Balan who has turned into a skimpily dressed seductress in the upcoming film The Dirty Picture thinks that she was just playing a role and tagging her as “a porn star” would be unfair.

The promotional stills of the film showing Vidya flaunting her curves in tiny blouses have taken the fans by surprise. In the movie, Vidya Balan plays the south siren Silk Smitha.

When asked if she fears being tagged as a porn star -- as some in the microblogging sites and forums have already started doing -- Vidya says she’s sure the tag won’t stay.

“I think I am an actor playing a character Silk Smitha. I don't think there is a possibility of that tag being attached to me. I just hope it adds another shade to me as an actor,” Vidya is quoted as saying by a news agency.

Well, another shade of Vidya as an actress the role has surely brought to the fore. Those who thought Vidya as a demure damsel with boldness that was limited to speaking abusive dialogues or kissing her co-stars, now know that when the role demands, she can drop her clothes and show off her feminine side without inhibition.
